The Sacrament of Holy Orders is reserved for those who are
entering official ordained ministry to serve the faithful as
bishops, priests, and deacons. They receive special gifts to
share the sacraments with the faithful. Holy Orders is a sacra-
ment through which a person dedicates his entire life to God
and is designated to shepherd the people of God by fulfilling the
functions of teaching, sanctifying, and governing.
