SAINT PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH Established 1890
|
1219 Second Avenue South Nashville, TN 37210
|
Built in 1890, St. Patrick Catholic
Church followed the Second
Empire building style. The
cornerstone was laid on July 13,
1890 and construction
completed in less than seven
months. The church was
dedicated with a Mass on
February 8, 1891.
The wrought iron fence in front
of the church and rectory is an
original feature. The historical
marker in the front yard tells a
brief history of the parish; it was
erected by the Metropolitan
Davidson County Historical
Commission.
In the late 1990s the top of the bell
tower, having been struck by
lightening, was destroyed by fire
and had to be totally restored.
